Looking Back At Past Posts – Part 1

Admittedly, there aren’t many posts here unlike the early days of this site. And sometimes, the posts that I made were targeted at search engine users. Board exam results here, boxing results there. These led me to reread one of my early posts: For whom do you blog?

I guess we have our various reasons for blogging. It may not be as noble as others would expect us to do. Why do we blog in the first place? I got my 5 reasons why I blog. You may even have yours too and wrote about it. Have you read the article about blogging’s effect to the brain? No, blogging won’t be your entry to the mental hospital. LOL!

For Whom Do You Blog?

This question floated in my mind for sometime now along with the question as to why do I blog. Am I just blogging for myself or for someone? Are the bloggers in my circle blogging for their selves, for search engines or for the readers like me? Or are we just rambling words, typing and conversing with ourselves and the PCs?

Maybe you who happen to read this may have a ready answer in mind. Or maybe you don’t, and is facing a dilemma as to what you should write because a particular group wants this, and another wants that, and you want to blog about your love life. Maybe your blogging idol wrote something that seems like telling you not to blog about your personal life because it is uninteresting. Or it could also be that someone barges in to your site and tells you not to blog about SEO and money making because you are not an expert on it or that you have no real blogging earnings to boast of.

Can A Blogger Be Considered A Writer?

Online dictionaries define a writer as “someone who writes creatively or professionally”. Then on the next line (definition no. 2) is the all-inclusive: “Someone who has a written output”.

I don’t have to assume I’d fit in the first definition because my day job involves accounting. Though I may have some posts in my other blogs that generated dollars for my paypal, and one cebuano short story that reached print in the inner pages of a local tabloid, I still feel inadequate.
