Web Traffic For Those Who Just Started Out

Web traffic is simply the number of visitors to your website. It does not necessary mean that they read your content, but at least they happen to reach any of your web pages. For webmasters or site owners who have legitimate businesses, traffic is very important, like it is the lifeblood of their online presence. The more people that visit your site, the more exposed your products or services. Traffic is also very important to bloggers who are monetizing their sites. More visits, more clicks on ads, bigger chances of getting expensive reviews, etc…

But what about the personal bloggers and those who are not into blog monetization? First, you have to ask yourself: Why do I need web traffic? If you have don’t have a ready answer for that, let me share to you some of my thoughts.

Crazy About Web Traffic

When I first started out blogging, I was just contented seeing my webcounter move by 2 or 3 paces a day. It meant that someone else had found my site. For a blogger who doesn’t have any idea about SEO, social networking and blog monetization, that was already a point of motivation.

But as the years and months passed by, and an increasing knowledge about how the blogosphere works, I noticed that some people had become crazy about web traffic. They cling to the idea that web traffic equals fame equals money. So, some experiments (sometimes crazy ones) were done just to boost traffic.

Google Search Engine Mysteries

It is every SEO enthusiasts (and even wannabes) dream to be no. 1 on SERP for keywords which they think is important. They do keyword sniping, hijacking, stuffing, loading, linking, highlighting, and every possible tactic just to be no.1. Majority do this with the intent of cashing in. But others do it for fun and gaining popularity.

If you have installed the Page Rank (PR) toolbar in your browser, it is most likely that you are one of those PR-conscious people in the worldwide web. And if you have a new blog or a site that got penalized, you are most likely waiting for the next Google Page Rank update of 2008 .

So, when is the next Google page rank update to happen? They’ve updated in October 2007, in January, February and even in early March 2008. Why aren’t they updating now?

Blogging For The Search Engines

They call it SEO; idolized, magnified, and glorified by webmasters, internet marketeers and many bloggers. It becomes the ultimate goal that even a deceptive posts (or link) is done to achieve optimized keywords. Many come forward to declare they are expert on such field, claiming success on such and such keywords. Others just do it for fun, calling themselves enthusiasts, rather than experts or consultants. Many ebooks about SEO are also distributed for free. I even have two of them in my laptop.
