Compassion PH-900 started in our church sometime in 1984. Our Church is one of the first projects opened in Cebu. I was barely 10 years old then but I remembered envying the sponsored kids my age for they always have various activities.

Now, 24 years later, the Alumni Association of Compassion in the Philippines launched the Cebu Chapter. My wife, an alumni herself, helped organized the launching. The purpose is for each Compassion alumni to be an advocate for the poor and the needy. Being beneficiaries themselves, and have succeeded, it’s now their turn to reach out and give back.

Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.

Founded by the Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean War orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training.

Today, Compassion helps more than 1 million children in 24 countries.
