News From Around the Philippine Blogosphere

I haven’t been around the blogs of the other Philippine bloggers for quite some time now. My blog visits are mostly spent on my own sites, my close friends’ sites, and my group’s sites. Other blogs I used to visit no longer have new updates. A lot of them also changed their blogging directions – from personal to catch-all blogs, which are rather more on news. So, what’s the latest news around the Philippine blogosphere? Here are some of the news I gathered:

1. iBlog 6 on April 16 and 17, 2010. – This is a two-day event wherein the first day is targeted for entrepreneurs and businesses wanting to tap blogs to promote their products and services. The second day is meant for everyone else interested in blogging. If you are interested in SEO, Gary Viray will speak about it on the first day while on the second day, Marhgil Macuha will tackle the topic. And if you want to see your blogging idol/crush or whatever, this is the time you’d be able to see them in the flesh. Registration is FREE!

Razon’s Halo-Halo Opens Outlet in Cebu

Razon’s Halo-halo, the famous halo-halo from Pampanga, will open its first outlet in Cebu City this March 26, 2010. They are located at Juan Luna Ave. Extension, just outside SM City Cebu (remember CNT Lechon?).

Razon's Halo-halo in Cebu

An officemate once told me about best-tasting halo-halo that he ever had. The name of the store escaped me then, until my wife mentioned to me Razon’s. “They’re opening an outlet in Cebu” she gladly told me over the phone. “Our next next-door neighbor owns the outlet” she added.

September 2009 Philippine Bar Exam Results

The results of the September 2009 Philippine Bar Exams is now posted here. It was reported that the list of passers will be made available by the Supreme Court on March 19, 2010 but it took another week for the list to be out. I know that those who took the exams, their friends and families were eagerly waiting for the results. Like you, I also waited for the results because I have friends who took that Bar Exams. Six months of waiting has now come to an end.

Update as of March 26, 2010 (from SC press Release)

A total of 1,451 out of the 5,903 (24.58%) examinees from 108 law schools nationwide passed the 2009 Bar examinations.

Justice Antonio Eduardo B. Nachura, chair of the 2009 Committee on Bar Examinations, disclosed that the number of those who passed represented 24.58% of the total examinees. The exams were administered through Deputy Clerk of Court and Bar Confidant Atty. Ma. Cristina B. Layusa.

For the 2009 Bar exams, Justice Nachura said that the passing rate was lowered from 75% to 71%, while the disqualification grade in Taxation has been lowered from 49% to 45%.

Afterthoughts on Pacquiao vs Clottey Fight

The match failed my expectations. I was expecting Pacquiao to demolish Clottey within 6 rounds. But it didn’t happen. Now I have to treat an officemate for lunch at my expense. The whole twelve rounds was a boring fight, and lots of my facebook friends agree. Maybe it would take another twelve rounds to finally bring Clottey down. Why is he so tough? Why isn’t he throwing lots of punches? Why isn’t he fighting? I am not sure of the sentiments of the 50,000 plus attendees at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. They must have expected Pacquiao to win, but not on a boring 12-round unanimous decision.
