Of Chasing Traffic and For The Love of Writing
Three of the influenza bloggers were very busy chasing traffic early this week. We even competed against each other. Bloggista wrote about it here, and Thirdworldgeek had his take here, too. If you don’t know what I mean, just take a look at my last four posts. Names, names, names. These are the names of those who passed the October 2009 CPA Board Exams.
Well, I don’t know who actually won our SEO race! If it’s based on money earned, it could be Bloggista again. He’s the real money maverick. I was just too happy to learn from him and in the process, earn a few hundred cents from adsense.
Hours before the results were announced, I was actually nervous as pageviews came in by the thousands. I was worried my site would crash. You know, like the flood brought by typhoon Ondoy almost a month ago. 25GB bandwidth may not be enough. Thirdworldgeek had his site down for an hour, he told me. But after the rush, I was glad I survived. I will not optimize for the results of both the teachers and the nursing board exams. This site is not intended for them.
But anyway, I had my fun chasing traffic. I topped some of the keywords and it means that any blogger can top the SERP and be at par with the SEO masters. And that traffic can be converted to $$. (Two digits in a day only)
Of Creative Writing
Jena Isle has finally released the book “Inspirational Thoughts and Stories of Bloggers from All Over the World”. My friends Jan, Doc Z, Roy, Elmot, Rey Jr, and Angel contributed stories. I contributed something too and it is entitled, “Missing the Bus”.
I really thank my friend Jena Isle for this opportunity. I can’t believe I’m in a book now
If you want a copy of the book, just follow this link here: Inspiration Anthology of Bloggers All Over the World.
Elmot, one of the contributing writers in the above work, sent me an SMS message the other day. Yes bro, I have blog for my poems and short stories. And Jumbled Writings is even older than this blog. I am not really promoting it, yet I am thankful for less than half a dozen weekly visitors.
It’s been a while since I wrote either a poem or a short story, but maybe, maybe, I’ll write again soon. Doc Z’s flash fiction and Roy’s Short Stories Blog, inspire me to follow suit. Of course, there’s Jena Isle’s Gewgaw Writings and that of the Fencesitter who, by the way, had just released a link to his best works due to the prodding of Jan.
Ah, blogging! It’s not always about traffic, social networks, money and site metrics. It is still for the love of writing.

I’d love to be impure once in a while and chase web search traffic in skirts, so to speak. LOL.
Maybe when I’m more learned in things SEO. But not until then.
I know what Elms would say, Novz: Pa-burjer naman kayo.

I seriously think you’re not really in it for the money when you’re only earning $2/day in adsense, and yet you keep on doing it. That would be… sad.lol.
We all have reasons for writing I think. Some actually write with a green thing in mind, some to express themselves, some to be read and some write in order not to go crazy. And then there are some who are just plain bored.

Yes, for the love of writing Novz, your poem would be most welcome. Sana sa susunod na EB makakakanta ka na ng Green , Green Grass of Home, he he he… Thanks for the link and all the best!

ah, fence, it is sad indeed! one blog for one reason, and 10 blogs for 10 other reasons. this is how we kill boredom.
jena isle, gusto ko yang green, green grass of home. haha. or my way kaya? I still remember a few stanzas.

Ohhh, I leave the writing to the experts like you guys, and will just chase the traffic and the cents. Hehehe.
Doesn’t matter what every one’s doing online – this is the beauty of the internet, everyone is empowered to do his thing.
No rules, no boundaries. Of course, I always employ the Golden Rule by my side.

Novz,
Writing for the heck of writing is something that makes us different from the trend. Of course, a little competition for traffic doesn’t hurt, right?
I tried some experiment and even consulted “the influenzablogger” about it and he said that my keywords were a bit competitive. So, I shifted a bit and found out that there are some other words that I could use.
One link traveled to another and presto, some page views on my site a few hours after posting it. Actually, I think I got a lot of traffic because of the links. he he he.
Maybe next time, we can experiment with those keywords again and boost our traffic.
WHY WE NEED TRAFFIC
That is how the people of the www would read our creative writing. We want to be read, foremost that’s why we write, right? LOL

The Influenza Bloggers would have us believe they’re in it for the money, but what are they advertising? That’s why I love their blog. They are influential, too – I added the widget to my own blog, after being inspired by their tacky goodness.
