How To Come Up With A Good Blog Post In Just 30 Minutes
How to come up with a good blog post in just 30 minutes? Can you do it? Well, think about an essay question in high school wherein you have to pass your paper in 30 minutes, finished or unfinished. I’m sure you’ve done it. But whether it’s good or badly written, the teacher is your judge. In a blogger’s case, the readers are the judges.
Actually, I’m pressing for time as of this moment. In 30 minutes, a very important meeting will have to start. So while waiting for my boss and colleagues to arrive, I write this post. Here are my 5 suggestions in how to come up with a good blog post in just 30 minutes.
1. Write from your drafts – I’m sure you as a blogger have some drafts hidden somewhere. Some even had their drafts written in piece of tissue paper. I have plenty of unfinished blog entries in my hard drive, this one not included. To include the time you spent on your initial draft, it is no longer 30 minutes. But that is beside the point.
2. Write on topics that always cross your mind – There is always that lingering and nagging idea that you want to write about. If it keeps haunting you, then all you need to do and stop and write about it. The words will freely flow and find its way to your keyboard. And you’ll be amazed you’re done in 30 minutes or less.
3. Write from experience – As the cliché goes, experience is the greatest teacher. And if you had learned well, it is easier for you to share your experience. Sometimes, there are topics we want to tackle that we have little knowledge about. Research takes time. But if you had a personal experience, then you can just expound on it at less time.
4. Write within your expertise – Need I say more? If you are expert on the topic you write about, it is really easier.
5. Go direct to the point – Sometimes, we bloggers tend to adorn our entries with flowery words. Well, this is just the frustrated writer in us (me included). A very simple post, stretched, filled in with similes, metaphors, images and other figures of speech, might get the readers nod. But there will be some wise guy out there, who’d ask, “What’s the point?”
So, there is my post done in less than 30 minutes. The meeting is about to start.

In my case, inspiration is important. I can do a 1000 word post in 30 min if I really feel driven. Just start writing and you will get flashes of brilliance (ideas that are great but you were not thinking of it when you started). If you finish your post and think its not good enough, wait overnight and read it again, the fresh outlook will allow you to improve it =)

Hey, this is Fifi’s question, Novz. You’ve answered it.
Let me up the ante. Novz, I can write a post in 5 minutes. Wanna bet?
Have you read this particular post in Copyblogger? Something like 10 ways to become a better writer? Or something along that line of thought.
Well the author – was it Bryan Clark? – listed the tips this way 1. Write 2. Write some more – all the way up to tip no. 10. Write, write, write. ahahaha.
I’d change the content from write to read. So you’d have 1. Read 2. Read some more 3. Read Novz under the table up to 10. Read until your eyes pop out of its sockets.
Yeah, I can’t. Pressed for time? I’d rather not post. I will take my own sweet time doing it until I have something remotely decent. “,)

Mine goes this way: imagine an acquaintance just arrived at your house and you have 30 min to think of what to say to her.

nice and right to the point novz.
It has always been my problem on how to come up with a blog post on being crowded with lots of works and stuffs on my calendar. maybe i need to let go of being verbose, and at the same time heed your tip on making draft posts…

nice points bro!
it’s really easy, you can do writing in 10 minutes even… however, the quality of the post would suffer hehe… well, at least there’s a post (oops! the gurus heard that)
but you did well bro, and I like the ‘direct to the point’ part, intro-state-extro
I hope you were not late for the meeting

In my case, I also find it hard but because my blog is a personal one, wherein the posts are mostly my personal experiences, the load of thinking for a certain topic what to blog is reduced.
happy blogging…

exactly pinoy rookie blogger! personal posts are easier to compose. no research needed.
snow, busy ka lang. i know madali lang yan for you. btw, nice meeting you sa influential blogs event.
Donald, kaw pa. sobrang galing mo na sa blogging.

roy, i agree that quality often suffers if minamadali yung post. but if the objective is to hijack profitable keywords, pabilisan yan and edit later.
elmot, how many hours do you spend on your post?
luke, you can say nothing at all, and let the smile do the talking. hehe.
August 9th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
aha!!! hmmm…ako mabilis na ang 2 hours…heheh… i’m more of a technical guy instead of a writer. mostly I do a lot of research before I can actually write a post. Currently, I have 9 drafts in my dashboard…heheh.
August 9th, 2009 at 1:42 pm
I agree about writing about the lingering topic in your head or in your drafts… actually that bloggers are freeloaders post I made happened in 30 minutes sparked by an anonymous comment in my blog (that i did not approve coz I hate spams and anonymous commentators).
Nice to meet you too and the rest last night

and this one is a very info
August 11th, 2009 at 5:01 am
Novs,
I can write a poem under five minutes. It takes about two minutes to post them and add a picture. Read it once or twice in another minute. Then, I have a post. LOL
Of course, mine is under 100 words most of the time so I can really make a post in around 30 minutes and more time to spare. hehehe.
But I have to admit that you made a pretty good post under stress. he he he. Pressure makes diamonds after all.
I’ll keep that in mind and hopefully be able to make a good post in 30 minutes.

August 18th, 2009 at 1:01 am
nice share..
my problem usually is time. the ideas and things i want to write normally flows when i’m driving or doing other chores (that doesnt require much brain power)… unfortunately, i dont have the luxury to write them down…. so by the time i can indulge to spend time on my computer, the ideas and the feel to write have gone ka-poof…
August 18th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
thanks for the tips!!!

Nice tips you’ve got here Novz! I think I am not good in simply SEO post because it requires research for me like UFC fights, etc. It suffice to say that I could write faster on my niche and interests.
