Not In My Blogroll
If you look at my sidebar, you won’t find my blogroll. It used to be there, but I decided to transfer it to another page. The long list won’t be a good thing to watch, as it disrupts the balance and the beautiful design of this blog. I know, I know. Some readers out there would say that there’s something wrong with my theme because the side bar is down under. I think the problem is with the browser and the settings of your screen display. But maybe, I really have to change theme soon.
Now back to my blogroll. It currently listed over 60 sites of which a few of them are mine. The blogs that I read today are not even on my list. But still I gave links, nominated them in awards, and gave them whatever recognition except inclusion in the blogroll.
I had this past post which asks: Why should I link to you? But as I looked at my blogroll page, there at the bottom is a short note which says:
“If you want an ex-link, please leave a comment here after you link to me using the anchor text: Blog From Cebu To The World.”
Wow! It means that I opened up myself for passersby who are quick to ask for ex-links. I’d like to stress though I am (and will) not obliged to do the same after they link to me. There are many factors like 1) Site’s theme and content 2) Level of relationships 3) Seriousness of the blog author, etc… If I had not linked back to you in a month’s time, or at least give you a mention (plus link) in any of my post, then you can delete me from your list. That will be fair enough.
P.S. I’ll be updating my blogroll this weekend to include those in my list of nominees for the top 10 emerging influential blogs of 2009. But there will be more new sites to include (and scrap too).

luke, you can start adding your wifey’s blog then your friend’s blogs. there are people who would be pleased seeing their sites in another’s blogroll.

orphicpixel, you can keep it that way. but sometimes, when you are in a blogging community, others would expect some forms of a blogroll.

hi bingskee, i’m sorry to hear that you lost your self hosted blog! in blogger, you just have to create another post like a normal one then post all your links in there. then make a visible link in our sidebar or header leading to the blogroll page.

that was my main concern too Novz, as I get to know more blogs, the list will grow longer and it won\’t really look nice on the sidebar.
that\’s why I made a separate page for it

Nice blogroll policy.
My experience is this. When I first put up a page finally for my blogroll, I started in a democratic spirit: inviting those who wish to join.
Then I have a change of heart. Now, it’s become more exclusive. Bloggers can still request for their inclusion in it, but the condition is that I have to feel personally connected with them before they get added to my page. I don’t know if that’s wise or not. But I just don’t feel like adding any Tom, Dick and Harry who will not visit again after we both had linked to each other. well, that’s just me of course.

Whaa I hope to see you next time.
Or I might have saw you that time and I just did not know it was you.
You were with van and bryan and the rest of the cebu bloggers right?

hi ada, i don’t think you saw me. I was at the back, near where Dine was seated. I wasn’t with the rest of the cebu bloggers during the talks, but we were on the same table at the after event party.
jan, as for me, as long as the link is retained and they’re still blogging, i won’t scrap them from my blogroll.

roy, a very long sidebar won’t really look good. if the blogroll is on another page, we can add as many as we want.

like Jan, i had a change of heart too. before basta may link sa blogs ko, add ko din. but when requests for ex link came from totally unrelated blogs and yung mga napadaan lang, i dont link anymore. in my frontpage, i have a blogroll of those i read and aspire to become. ika nga, its my blog so…

dinah, our perspectives change in the passing of time. at the start, ex-linking is fun. it’s a surefire way to imediately increase one’s technorati rank (or even PR). but to link to totally unrelated blog (or a blog banned by google) is a no no. for personal bloggers, there are so many related sites out there.
btw, thanks for dropping by!

zorlone, although the visit matters most, for many, a link to the blogroll would suffice and will serve as the connection between bloggers.
donald, you should be in my link! it’s only now that i’ve updated my blogroll.
