June 2008 Nursing Board Exam Topnotchers from Cebu Schools
The June 2008 Philippine Nursing Board Exam Results was already released late last night. 27,765 examinees or 43.07% out of the 65,459 who took the exam last June 1 and 2 passed. The exams were held in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga.
I first learned of the results last night from examinees who congratulated each other at Velez College, Cebu while accompanying my wife, an alumna of that school, who attended the wake of the school’s longest-serving nursing dean.
More than 100 examinees made it to the top 10. Topnotchers from Cebu schools are as follows:

• Regina Krys Villaflor Cabanilla, Cebu Normal University (Cebu State College) — 85.00%
• Elaine Esther Saldua Funtanar, Cebu Normal University (Cebu State College) — 85.00%
Top 7
• Jennifer Baguio Gait, Velez College — 84.80%
• Ariane Castañares Llevares, Cebu Normal University (Cebu State College) — 84.80%
Top 8
• Lorrainne Yu Embay, University of the Visayas-Mandaue City — 84.60%
Top 9
• Blake Warren Coloma Ang, Cebu Doctors’ University — 84.40%
• Maria Wella Balbona Pichon, University of the Visayas-Cebu City — 84.40%
• Meludee Joy Madrigal Roche, Cebu Normal University (Cebu State College) — 84.40%
• Angela Solayao Tiu, Velez College — 84.40%
Top 10
• Jeriel Bayhonan Besagas, Cebu Normal University (Cebu State College) — 84.20%
• Marienne Sungcad Bravo, STI College Cebu, Inc — 84.20%
• Bridgel Avila Galorio, Cebu Normal University (Cebu State College) — 84.20%

I am happy to those who made it. However, I am even more happy to hear from the Top 1 (I saw her last night from a tv news, but did not got her name) that she is willing to serve her country instead of working abroad. I wish she can withstand the pain and pressure.
We need a lot of them these days so I hope our government can do something about them.
