Google Search Engine Mysteries

It is every SEO enthusiasts (and even wannabes) dream to be no. 1 on SERP for keywords which they think is important. They do keyword sniping, hijacking, stuffing, loading, linking, highlighting, and every possible tactic just to be no.1. Majority do this with the intent of cashing in. But others do it for fun and gaining popularity.

In my attempt at getting visitors from search engines, which currently is just a mere 2% of my total traffic, I was hoping to be in the first few pages of Google search engine for the key phrase “Free Wi-fi in Cebu”. When I first made a post with that phrase as a title a couple of months ago, I was at no. 3 on page 1. That was when my PR was N/A. The other day (with my PR3), I still saw my blog and a link to my latest “Free Wi-fi in Cebu” post listed in the first page. But today, I can no longer locate it even in Google’s first 5 pages.

Why the sudden drop? What happened? When I went to the blog search for that phrase, I am at no. 1. But I am nowhere to be found in the web search. Even those sites listed in there are blogs too, and they also appear in the blog search but ranked lower than mine. Do you know the reasons for this? I could not think of any reason, of getting a penalty if that is the case.

In the past, my Google webmasters tool says that I was no.1 for the “Cebu” keyword. I didn’t believe it but I immediately checked it anyway. I was nowhere in the first 10 pages. I checked the different data centers, and I found out that it’s in the US center that I was in that lofty position. I checked further but was just frustrated. I thought that the tool did not reflect the correct standing of my blog in that particular keyword.

It’s mind-boggling really. I guess I have to fully read that couple of SEO ebooks hibernating in my hard disk. Or maybe it is just one of those Google mysteries in the worldwide web that no one has yet unlocked.

Ohh, the mystery of G. It’s hard to fathom. As for me, I just enjoy blogging. The recognition is just an icing in the cake. There are so many bloggers out there competing for a lot of things, that can take away the fun. Specially when G gives a little slap for what it thinks as improper. :-D

The way i see it. Cguro the keyword’s popularity of cebu wifi is in a decline that why your index page is nowhere to be found after a few days of making it to the top ten page.

I hope i know what i’m talking about. heheheheh
    good day ceb!

Interesting. And scary at the same time, if you’re really serious about getting recognized in search engines. I might as well just concentrate on blogging. I don’t think I can handle the rejection. *shudders*
