May 2008 Philippine CPA Board Exam Results

Posted by ceblogger on May-20-2008

The results of the May 2008 Philippine Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Board Exam is posted here. Feel free to scroll down and read more. This for the exams held last May 11-12 and 18-19, 2008 in the different cities in the Philippines. I felt like posting the results here because I once took the CPA board exam and passed it on my first take in October 1995. Whew! How time flies so fast!

Passing the CPA board exam is one of my life’s greatest moments. I remember that day when the results came in the paper, a neighbor visited our house and brought the good news. I rushed to the nearest newsstand and there grabbed a Philippine Star, the only one at that time that carried the complete and readable results. (We don’t have the internet yet at that time). I was so happy for myself and for my friends who made it. I was even happier for my friends who landed on the top three.

I know the thrill and excitement of waiting for the results. Even non-takers, friends and relatives of examinees are excited of browsing the results hoping for a familiar name. My staffs here are busy surfing the net for the results. I gave them the result as soon I got the file from a friend.

To the new CPA’s, my congratulations! Welcome to the fold!

Cebu Towns Have Free Wi-Fi

Posted by ceblogger

This is a follow-up post on Free Wi-Fi in Cebu .

Cebu, that island in the Pacific, is blessed with beautiful beaches and amazing historical sites. If you are familiar with your world history, this is the place where the famous Portuguese explorer, Ferdinand Magellan, met his untimely death. But if you come to Cebu on business or just for a vacation, don’t forget to bring your laptop because there are now plenty of FREE WI-FI zones here.

Argao Church

If you travel 66 kms south, you wouldn’t miss your mails or your blogs. Right in front of the famous St. Michael Archangel Parish in Argao is a hot zone. You can just sit at one of the benches at the town plaza and open your laptop. The one at the far left of the picture above is me trying out the connectivity.

Boljoon Curch

If you travel further south, 103 km away from Cebu City, is another wired town. In front of a heritage site, the Nuestra Señora de Patrocino Parish of Boljoon, Cebu, is a wi-fi zone. The town set up tables and chairs for tourists and users. It is one of the town’s projects to invite more tourists and visitors to their place. And while you are surfing the web, you will surely enjoy the sea breeze and the sight of their enchanted boulevard.

I hope more Cebu towns and Cities will follow what Argao and Boljoon did. It would be better if Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island, a place booming with tourists, would be the next to introduce free wi-fi. It would not cost them more that P1,500 (around $35) a month for the connection. And it is also giving a chance for their constituents (and visitors) to be connected to the worldwide web. I can just imagine myself enjoying the sand and the sight of the beach, with a laptop in hand.

  1. manilenya Said,

Ang ganda ng Cebu, hope makarating din ako dyan :)

  2. ceblogger Said,

manilenya, that day will come soon!

  3. bloggista Said,

Maayong balita na bai da. Its great to know some places are connected. The southern Cebu and western side should also be promoted to tourists. I think the beaches there are even better.

Si Manilenya, cgurado pupunta yan. :-)

  4. ceblogger Said,

bloggista, i guess you are also referring to Moalboal. That town should have free wi-fi too.

  5. lourie Said,

Maayo pa sila libre ila wifi. =D But yes, this is a very welcome development for Cebu towns. Moalboal, Badian…the southwestern destinations ought to follow suit to attract more tourists.

  6. islander Said,

wow! hope other municipalities will do the same thing. what about sa cebu city & mandaue & mactan may free wi-fi ba pod?

  7. islander Said,

pls update my link in your blogroll…balhin nako sa blogspot!

  8. Freezebox Said,

wow.. it’s gud news.. asenso najud ang cebu towns.. yeheeeyy..

  9. ceblogger Said,

lourie, these are possible coz every local government unit is encouraged to computerized. it won’t take long for it to happen.

islander, for the bigger cities, i think it’s the private sector that provides it. plenty of coffee shops offer wifi. it would be difficult for the plazas to be wired. basin mabira nuon ang mga laptops ug ang router. i’ll update my link later.

freezebox, yep dapat lang na Cebu should take the lead.

  10. keith Said,

hi ceb. yuh, at most there are already more than 5 i guess local municipilaties from south to north whose into wifi craze. hahah! i hope madugay libre na jud ang internet.

  11. dong hO Said,

that’s really good news! I’ll be in Cebu this Thursday and I’ll be in Bantayan by May 27 for a vacation. im not bringing my laptop though. do you have any suggestions on how i can enjoy my two days and one night stay in that island. and also places in cebu city where i can spend during the night (bars, restos etc).

    thanks!

  12. ceblogger Said,

Dong Ho, i will be in Makati tomorrow till Friday. I might be able to visit and watch the photo exhibit of Ferdz.

As to your two days and one night vacation to Bantayan, you should leave from Cebu (thru bus at the north bus terminal) before 6am so that you’d be able to reach the island by 9am. For more pics of the place, find the name freezebox in my blogroll. He has recently been there and got some nice pics.

Places in Cebu City that will keep you awake: IT park, Crossroads, Ayala, SM, Mango Square, Banilad Town Center
