May 2008 Philippine CPA Board Exam Results

Posted by ceblogger on May-20-2008

The results of the May 2008 Philippine Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Board Exam is posted here. Feel free to scroll down and read more. This for the exams held last May 11-12 and 18-19, 2008 in the different cities in the Philippines. I felt like posting the results here because I once took the CPA board exam and passed it on my first take in October 1995. Whew! How time flies so fast!

Passing the CPA board exam is one of my life’s greatest moments. I remember that day when the results came in the paper, a neighbor visited our house and brought the good news. I rushed to the nearest newsstand and there grabbed a Philippine Star, the only one at that time that carried the complete and readable results. (We don’t have the internet yet at that time). I was so happy for myself and for my friends who made it. I was even happier for my friends who landed on the top three.

I know the thrill and excitement of waiting for the results. Even non-takers, friends and relatives of examinees are excited of browsing the results hoping for a familiar name. My staffs here are busy surfing the net for the results. I gave them the result as soon I got the file from a friend.

To the new CPA’s, my congratulations! Welcome to the fold!

The Next Google Page Rank Update Of 2008

Posted by ceblogger

If you have installed the Page Rank (PR) toolbar in your browser, it is most likely that you are one of those PR-conscious people in the worldwide web. And if you have a new blog or a site that got penalized, you are most likely waiting for the next Google Page Rank update of 2008 .

So, when is the next Google page rank update to happen? They’ve updated in October 2007, in January, February and even in early March 2008. Why aren’t they updating now?

I got two blogs penalized. But little did I notice that my almost forsaken and forgotten literary blog got an upgrade. I do not exactly know when it happened. Probably it was in the March round. But hey, the PR is of no use for it anyway. I need the PR for my blogs that sells reviews (also known as links, but depends on whose perspective). It’s against the rules they say, but WHY?

Ok, I don’t have to shout or get mad. The ranking is Google’s creation and, just like us who want to control our own blogs, Google wants the same. Unfortunately, there are wise people who try to play the search engine results game to their advantage by buying links. Perhaps it would not be a problem had they bought them direct from Google, but it’s not nice if you purchase from a competitor. Hence, many blogs (and websites) were penalized.

To those of us who are doing or have done paid reviews, it’s not necessarily the content of our posts that matters. It’s the link on that anchor text. It’s an SEO technique, same as those found in free templates, banners, deep-linking, etc… Of course, there are exceptions. What’s the use of good reviews without the links?

Some say that the penalization only affects the toolbar but not really Google’s internal algorithms. They theorized that this was done to frustrate people who use the toolbar for reasons other than Google’s original intention. There could be truth to it.

If Google updates now, will this blog be ready? I don’t know. As of today, my PR is N/A. Not zero but N/A. I am not doing any paid posts here and I think I have enough numbers to merit at least a green dot on the toolbar. I hope the update will be done late this May 2008 as I still need more quality and power in those backlinks.

Now, tell me what you think.

(p.s. The big G started to update in the 29th of April. Check out my post: Google Updates Page Ranks

  1. keith Said,

yuh! i hope they give us back out pr ceb. i really need it now. i’m in dire need of money because i have to pay my internet connexion and electric also. The site of those paid review opps just so enviting.

  2. bambit Said,

Laz, I would worry less about google PR and more about rich content. I have a few links on my blogroll that offer really original and informative content and are also monetized with PR0 and yet they are still making good money out of of their blogs.

  3. Shoshana Said,

  6. ceblogger Said,

Rooturaj, you have to wait at most 90 days before the next update. For the meantime, you just have to build your blog’s foundations.

  7. Freezebox Said,

yup, sir.. you’re right that 90 days or more.. before you can see the result.. for me it took about 3 months before my PR changed from Zero. I never expect but I’m thankful.. some blogs are older than mine.. but still in PR 0.

  8. Sunil Said,

It was updated in April end, because i got new high PR for my blogs :)

  9. Andrew Said,
