May 2008 Philippine CPA Board Exam Results

Posted by ceblogger on May-20-2008

The results of the May 2008 Philippine Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Board Exam is posted here. Feel free to scroll down and read more. This for the exams held last May 11-12 and 18-19, 2008 in the different cities in the Philippines. I felt like posting the results here because I once took the CPA board exam and passed it on my first take in October 1995. Whew! How time flies so fast!

Passing the CPA board exam is one of my life’s greatest moments. I remember that day when the results came in the paper, a neighbor visited our house and brought the good news. I rushed to the nearest newsstand and there grabbed a Philippine Star, the only one at that time that carried the complete and readable results. (We don’t have the internet yet at that time). I was so happy for myself and for my friends who made it. I was even happier for my friends who landed on the top three.

I know the thrill and excitement of waiting for the results. Even non-takers, friends and relatives of examinees are excited of browsing the results hoping for a familiar name. My staffs here are busy surfing the net for the results. I gave them the result as soon I got the file from a friend.

To the new CPA’s, my congratulations! Welcome to the fold!

Entrecard: The Fun In Dropping And Advertising

Posted by ceblogger

Entrecard is basically an online advertising system wherein you use points (entrecard credits or simply ec) to pay for a 24-hour advertising space in another’s website belonging to the community. It is very helpful to small and medium-sized blogs in increasing their traffic and visibility in the worldwide web.

That 125 x 125 adspace is the most popular these days. And you can actually advertise without using real money, but just entrecard credits. You earn points by: 1) dropping 2) getting drops and 3) selling ad spaces. More innovative ways of earning points includes 1) winning in a contest 2) direct buying from sellers, 3) subscribing to the feeds of certain bloggers, and 4) getting paid for goods and services sold using ec.

Dropping

The maximum drops you can make is 300 per username and 600 per ip. The former is already practiced in the past but the ip limit is something new. Those with multiple identities used to gain points on drops as much as they want. But now, that enterprising practice is stopped. If you want more credits, drop till the limit and take note of those with “you drop, I’ll follow” signs.

Since I am in a third world country with internet connection speed similar to that of a passenger jeepney passing Colon Street, it will take me many hours if I aim to drop at 300 websites. That wouldn’t be fun. So I just limit my dropping to 40-60 per day. The maximum I’ve dropped so far is a little over 100.

Don’t just hop for the sake of dropping cards. It’s not entrecard’s intention. You’d miss out the great posts of many bloggers. In my hopping and dropping, I bookmarked certain sites I planned to revisit. Not just for dropping, but also for my reading pleasure. I discovered new and interest sites and it’s really fun.

Advertising

Advertising thru entrecard is announcing to the blog community that you have a website and you have something for the blogosphere. I really don’t want to spend real money on advertising. Not now, but maybe for some real business in the future. But entrecard enables me to advertise my blog in the sites of others. Isn’t it great? In the past, I can use 2 ec to advertise on the blogs of new entrants. But now, the cheapest I pay is 8 ec. My budget is 64 ec the most. But I usually choose the most popular among the 16ec flock.

I’ll have another post about the pricing. But why advertise when you can’t afford it? I’m advertising up to the level of fun. And yeah, seeing your logo in the website of others is fun. Much more if it brings actual traffic and new visitors each day.

  3. cyril Said,

I am fond of dropping on entrecard widgets too. Prior to that, I have been into what others may call as bloghopping. I noticed that, even though I still am appreciative of the scheme of entrecard, is that it makes blog visits a lot less personal as some simply drops his/her card on the widget and wouldn’t even bother to take a look at the blog itself.
