May 2008 Philippine CPA Board Exam Results

Posted by ceblogger on May-20-2008

The results of the May 2008 Philippine Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Board Exam is posted here. Feel free to scroll down and read more. This for the exams held last May 11-12 and 18-19, 2008 in the different cities in the Philippines. I felt like posting the results here because I once took the CPA board exam and passed it on my first take in October 1995. Whew! How time flies so fast!

Passing the CPA board exam is one of my life’s greatest moments. I remember that day when the results came in the paper, a neighbor visited our house and brought the good news. I rushed to the nearest newsstand and there grabbed a Philippine Star, the only one at that time that carried the complete and readable results. (We don’t have the internet yet at that time). I was so happy for myself and for my friends who made it. I was even happier for my friends who landed on the top three.

I know the thrill and excitement of waiting for the results. Even non-takers, friends and relatives of examinees are excited of browsing the results hoping for a familiar name. My staffs here are busy surfing the net for the results. I gave them the result as soon I got the file from a friend.

To the new CPA’s, my congratulations! Welcome to the fold!

Blogging For The Search Engines

Posted by ceblogger

They call it SEO; idolized, magnified, and glorified by webmasters, internet marketeers and many bloggers. It becomes the ultimate goal that even a deceptive posts (or link) is done to achieve optimized keywords. Many come forward to declare they are expert on such field, claiming success on such and such keywords. Others just do it for fun, calling themselves enthusiasts, rather than experts or consultants. Many ebooks about SEO are also distributed for free. I even have two of them in my laptop.

The wikipedia entry on SEO says

“Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results or the higher it “ranks”, the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.”

I’m not surprised why none of my last 100 visitors, are from the search engines. I’m not optimizing anything. No, not yet. The SEO experiment I did on my other blogs was quite successful as it brought traffic I never experienced before. But it was short-lived. My next attempts were seemed to be quashed by the search engines as it took days for my posts to appear on blog search for specific keywords that are even on the title of my posts. Or maybe the search engines are just biased against blogs on free-hosted sites. I really don’t know. But I hope I’ll find it out soon.

A friend and I did a few SEO experiments. We even boasted of our keywords wherein we are on the top 3. But something deep within me is pierced slowly. Why would I optimize popular keywords when I don’t have any business with it but just to divert a percentage of the search traffic to my blog? Am I just frustrating the searchers? Or am I just jittery on this trade?

I would be glad to hear your thoughts.

  1. Sonnie Said,

But SEO can also get us in trouble with google :-(

  2. ceblogger Said,

that is why others conceal the trick as much as possible.

  3. Taylor Said,

  4. ceblogger Said,

Thanks for the visit, taylor. you’ve got nice experiments there in your blog.

  5. Allen Said,

Blogging for search engines would go well with adsense as you can making your searches think that those links might give them better results than what they find in their blog. It may sound evil but a lot of bloggers (me too) are doing this. ^_^

  6. Wilhelmina Said,

    On your laptop, eh?

Looks like we’re gonna be sharing ebooks on the next EB then, :D

I didn’t do anything but when I Google my name it’s on the third page now, which makes sense because I haven’t been optimizing anything right now. A couple of weeks ago it went as far up as second on the search. The first one was for the Wilhelmina models. Just shows my name isn’t that popular. Haha

  7. ceblogger Said,

allen, these keywords optimization withourt a real product selling or service, is aimed at earning money from ppc. you lose a reader, but earns some cents.

wilhelmina, you can start optimizing your name. but it’s a far shot coz you someone else owns the domain. but if the keyword is with a Miss, you are no.1.
