I hopped into a site with an announcement that the blog got a Page Rank upgrade from 0 to 3. I checked the date of his post and it is current. Sensing that the upgrade is already in every blogs doors, I checked all my sites:

Site 3 – remained at PR0
Site 4 – PR2 to 1

I checked some of my friends’ sites.

If you have installed the Page Rank (PR) toolbar in your browser, it is most likely that you are one of those PR-conscious people in the worldwide web. And if you have a new blog or a site that got penalized, you are most likely waiting for the next Google Page Rank update of 2008 .

So, when is the next Google page rank update to happen? They’ve updated in October 2007, in January, February and even in early March 2008. Why aren’t they updating now?

Don’t mind the question in my title. I welcome all droppers here with open arms. That is the reason why I did not place my widget at the bottom of my page. You know very well that some are doing it for the purpose of making you notice their posts first. Is money your ultimate goal in blogging? Others openly declare that if it’s not for money-making, blogging is just a waste of time. So their every effort, (posting, blog design, commenting, blog hopping, blog title, post title, etc…) is aimed at making money online. How many creatively deceive the readers just to gain traffic? How many pretend to be experts in money-making when their post is just copied in from somewhere?

Others say that money as the goal in blogging is destroying the blogosphere, and that the “pure bloggers” are the personal bloggers.

Entrecard is basically an online advertising system wherein you use points (entrecard credits or simply ec) to pay for a 24-hour advertising space in another’s website belonging to the community. It is very helpful to small and medium-sized blogs in increasing their traffic and visibility in the worldwide web.

That 125 x 125 adspace is the most popular these days. And you can actually advertise without using real money, but just entrecard credits. You earn points by: 1) dropping 2) getting drops and 3) selling ad spaces. More innovative ways of earning points includes 1) winning in a contest 2) direct buying from sellers, 3) subscribing to the feeds of certain bloggers, and 4) getting paid for goods and services sold using ec.

They call it SEO; idolized, magnified, and glorified by webmasters, internet marketeers and many bloggers. It becomes the ultimate goal that even a deceptive posts (or link) is done to achieve optimized keywords. Many come forward to declare they are expert on such field, claiming success on such and such keywords. Others just do it for fun, calling themselves enthusiasts, rather than experts or consultants. Many ebooks about SEO are also distributed for free. I even have two of them in my laptop.

Popularity: 4% [?]

When you look at my archives, you might say that I’m just new in blogging, started in February of 2008, with 26 entries, a dozen feed readers, no PR, and with an Alexa Rank of a little over a million. But in reality, this is my 8th blog, my only dotcom (excluding that of multiply and friendster), in over two years of blogging.

“Eighth? How do you manage to maintain them all?” you might ask. I would also like to ask that question to my friend who claims to have 25. To tell you, it’s not easy maintaining multiple blogs with limited time and resources. So I’ve buried two and seldom post on the three others. That left me with three to regularly maintain. And in those three, I have at least one post a week in each and not one has a repost of the content of the others.

So who won? I promised I’d announce the winner of my little entrecard contest last Friday night. But I was too tired coming off from an out-of-town trip. I was also out whole day Saturday because of a company outing. Between 10 pm Friday and this hour, there was no other new commenter. Probably because my site was down again for 3 days and it was restored only yesterday afternoon. I hope it will be the last of those long downtimes.

Using random.org, I listed down the names of the 9 commenters. Yeah, only 9. I remembered three other names from my previous discontinued contest but since they did not comment again, I did not include their names. I guess they’re very busy with their offline lives too.

Popularity: 8% [?]

“53.85% of advert requests declined”goes my advert approval stats. But wait, don’t spank me or be bothered by it. This blog is only less than 15 days old (net of my downtime days) in the entrecardsphere. I’ve just probably declined around 10-12 adverts.

When I first joined entrecard, even before I learned what it is all about, I noticed that my ad price was only 2ec. I didn’t want to sell my blog adspace short so I declined the first wave of adverts. When I was already comfortable with the price (around 20ec which is still cheap), I started accepting the second wave of adverts.
