Page Rank Update
I dodged, crawled, sidestepped, camouflaged, and tiptoed just to be invisible to the eyes of Google. One online friend was even surprised and commented why I still have my PR despite the number of paid posts in my blog. I was surprised myself, though I theorized that it could be my strategy of paid post pacing and the lack of banner announcements. I actually don’t want to fill my blog with ads. Since most readers read the topmost article, I would make sure that it is not a paid entry.
But I somewhat expected the smack down to happen because no one escapes the scythe of Google. Much more if you are using blogspot, which is within their sphere of dominion. I don’t want to think of it as a penalty but a result of their algorithm which, some argued, is flawed. Indeed, Google instructed a “no follow” attribute, but what for? If the interlinking is necessary for the vote for a certain webpage, then why “no follow”?
My cubicle neighbor was ecstatic of his PR3 update a few days ago. He viewed it as the fruit of his blog socializing, content updating and blog hopping. Some opps with bigger payout came along with the PR. But it was short-lived. The unthinkable (or rather unreasonable) slash happened swiftly. They gave and took it back. So it was really a penalty.
My PR4 and PR3 were all gone now. I can not do anything about it but to work my way back, or kneel down before the big G and ask for mercy (i.e. reconsideration). It’s good to have savored my PR4 since October 2007 and earned a few hundred dollars with it.

My blog has also reached pr4. In fact, I ranked 8th in the Top 100 blogs for 2007 in Mindanao. However, after earning a few hundreds of dollars from paid reviews, my pr dropped until my blog did not meet the qualifications to write paid posts. I don’t know how it happened.

it’s sad to hear about those things ayel. But I don’t think our SERP was affected. Anyway, just keep on blogging. We just hope that advertisers will consider blog traffic and turn a blind eye on PR.

Hi Laz, at first I wanted to lash out at google for zeroing Sam’s PR4 because he’d signed up for p*y p*r p*st — lisod ni da basin makit-an na pud tang google. then again I realized that blog monetizing opportunities that use a third party’s algorithm to rate their blogs’ marketability are doomed from the start. The thing is to build your own credible ranking system and sell that to advertisers and have participating blogs adapt the ranking system.

daisy, mao gyud. unsa na lang si big G.
bambit, you are correct. that is why they created izea ranking. but i think the advertiser’s are not biting it as of the moment. i can see that most of their advertisers still use PR, even seeking review from PR7 blogs.

About this PR rankings from the big G I would say to hell with this what we have to do is keep on blogging and do self analysis and SEO of our own blog other bloggers like Problogger.net of Darren doesn’t have any PR from the big G if they can do it why can’t we I think all we need is a little patience. By the way I like the design of your blog it is cool and refreshing to the eye good choice.

Hi there everyone. This site is nice, the template(design) is very good, especially to the eyes. Blogging is not a waste of time, in fact we are earning from it. It is what we do to make use of those extra times that are supposed to be wasted.
I would like to raise one point also. Does Cebu have an active association for bloggers? I am interested in becoming a member of such..
More power to you CEB! Ciao

heisan, thanks about the comment on the cool design. We can’t do a Darren Rowse, but the PR would have helped.
blurem, thanks for the visit. I don’t think there is an association for cebu bloggers. But you may googlesearch it, or even form one.
kerslyn, thanks! PR will come one of these days.
kotsengkuba, my leftovers ay PR4 na and had the potential of becoming PR5 pero ayon, na penalized.
