What To Write In A Blog

I am no longer new to blogging as I have been blogging for almost two years now. But when I started blogging, I really had no idea what to write about. So I read other blogs, both excellent and crappy. I just learned from them.

Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines a blog as, “a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer”.

The above is descriptive of a personal blog wherein you write about yourself and how you see the world around you. You can write about your family, your spouse, your friends, past and present loves, etc… You can also write about your breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in-betweens. Some even write about waking up on the wrong side of the bed, their drunken misadventures and/or their bad hair day.

Some blog on focused topics. These are what we call niche blogging. They limit their posts on a particular topic which interest only a particular target of readers. If you’re an architect, you can blog about building designs and structures. Or if you are interested in gardening, your blog can all be about gardening and what you can find in a garden. Most niche blogs today are targeted on money making endeavors. Not necessarily based on your own interest, but on what readers are searching for, hoping to capitalize on it.

Others write reviews, may it be on movies, plays, books, websites, products, services, etc… Some do it for free, while others for a fee. Great reviews are often flocked, praised and to some extent, attacked. Still it is flocked.

In summary, you can write about anything in your blog, because that is yours. Just remember not to plagiarize the work of others. The main point here is information you shared, and not those copy and paste thing. Writing a good post would be another story and deserve another long entry.
