5 Reasons Why I Blog

Why blog? This one is from a meme which I stumbled upon more than a year ago. I already posted this entry in my other blogs, but I am just going to post it again herewith a little revision.

Can A Blogger Be Considered A Writer?

Online dictionaries define a writer as “someone who writes creatively or professionally”. Then on the next line (definition no. 2) is the all-inclusive: “Someone who has a written output”.

I don’t have to assume I’d fit in the first definition because my day job involves accounting. Though I may have some posts in my other blogs that generated dollars for my paypal, and one cebuano short story that reached print in the inner pages of a local tabloid, I still feel inadequate.

Free Wi-Fi In Cebu

Sometimes I wish that some free Wi-Fi signal reach our home so that I can this blog at the comfort of our home. Maybe not tonight, but I really hope it will happen sooner.

Max Limpag wrote in his blog (and published in today’s Sunstar) that the Municipality of Argao has a free Wi-Fi access at its plaza. It is made possible through the effort of its municipal government who wants to give tourists and residents access to the world wide web. Argao is located some 66kms south of Cebu and is famous for its beaches (including Argao beach Club), Mt. Lantoy (Maria Cacao legend) and the hometown of retired SC Chief Justice Hilario Davide. It is also my paternal grandmother’s hometown.

Blogging Everyday

Some do. They eat, sleep, work, play, drink and romance their blogs. Do you call that passion? Probably more of obsession.

Honestly, unless you are a blogging superstar, you don’t need to have a daily entry. If you write for personal things, you’d probably run out of juice that you might end up blogging about the color of your feces or your urine. Leave some of yourselves covered.

What To Write In A Blog

I am no longer new to blogging as I have been blogging for almost two years now. But when I started blogging, I really had no idea what to write about. So I read other blogs, both excellent and crappy. I just learned from them.

Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines a blog as, “a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer”.

When Is The Right Time To Start A Blog?

I say, anytime, anywhere, as long as you have that internet connection and the oozing desire to write about something right now.

If you are reading this post and you have no blog of your own, you can click on the “new tab” and register on any free blogging hosts like blogger, wordpress, i.ph, vox, typepad, myspace, and the like. If you have a friendster account, there is a blog portion in there. But who reads blogs at friendster? Or you can buy your own domain and purchase space from a reputable webhosting company.

From thereon, you will now be a citizen of the blogosphere, along with almost 100 million other dwellers.

Cebu, World

Where in the world is Cebu?

Cebu is an island in the Pacific, part of the Philippine archipelago. It is not an independent state but it is just one of the provinces of the Philippines. Cebu City is the Philippines’ oldest city, and one of the best cities to live in Asia.

Magellan discovered (or as my college history teacher puts it: rediscovered) Cebu in 1521. The people in the island, led by Rajah Humabon are quite friendly. They gladly accepted Mr. Magellan and his crew. But unfortunately, another group from the nearby island are not that welcoming. The foreigners considered it as a hostile move and started their attack. And so we just heard of stories that an arrow hit Mr. Magellan and so he died. The Philippines got its first hero in Lapulapu. But some said that the first hero killed the first tourist. Mr. Magellan did not come as a tourist but as a conqueror. Cebuanos are very friendly to tourists.

Hello, World!

I kept the title Wordpress offered as the first post. They’re kinda formal: say hello first and then a few introductions. It’s nice to say hello to the wide wide world on my first post.

I am N.F.Trapa, a CPA by profession, Christian by faith, a good son, and a loving husband. I hope no one disagrees with that.

So this is me blogging for the nth time. I authored four other blogs but I shall name them in my later posts. I am not really gonna reveal them for now.
